Clean up campaigns, Kenya:
Background
2006
There was lack of knowledge on proper waste disposal and its management in Kenya, so in November 2006 we initiated a community involvement in waste management dubbed ENVIROSAFI 2006 which involves regular cleanup programs; combining responsibility with sports. The project is run by SPIF, our sister CBO in Kenya.

Clean-up projects in Peterborough, UK
Litter Free Peterborough
Environclean has initiated an anti-litter campaign in Peterborough, UK dubbed 'its in your hands' Campaign. Peterborough is the designated 3rd Enviromental city in UK and she wants to be the 1st environmental Capital of UK.
Environclean hopes to raise awareness about the littering problem by encouraging the communities in Peterborough to work together for a litter free environment, and in partnership with the local authority. The project is about Partnering, Picking & prevention.
We hope that other community group and organisations throughout Peterborough & UK will join in the anti-littering movementis playing a role.
The aims of this project are:
- To raise awareness of the problems caused by litter
- Campaigning to change behaviour
- Working with and supporting community efforts to reduce & prevent litter
- Promote sense of local pride and celebrtae Peterborough as an environmental conscious city.
Litter PickingWhy do it?
Litter is definitely unsightly and offensive, it can cause problems and give impressions that we don't care. We believe litterers are less likely to drop litter in a clean Environment.

Litter prevention
How can littering be prevented?
It seems that litter is now so much part of our environment that it is tolerated - even in our beautiful countryside!
So we must raise awareness about the litter problem and we all need to realize that the causes of litter can be addressed. By working together within the community and with partners we will be able to find ways to prevent littering.

Partners in community
What can Partners do?
Partners in the community can show their support for the project by doing what they can to help eliminate litter, such as keeping their car park, roadside or public area free of litter and displaying a LITTER FREE project certificate.
Partners can help to reinforce the anti-littering message. Also we can be able to talk with partners about the problems and solutions from their perspective.
